Hometown/State? I live in Neenah, Wisconsin.
What was your first motorcycle? Mine was a 1966 Yamaha 250cc street bike.
Current motorcycle(s)? I own a 2010 Honda ST1300.
What is your all-time favorite motorcycle? That would be Honda’s VFR800. The bike is sporty, yet comfortable enough to ride 1000 miles in a day. The 5.8 gallon tank allows one to cover 200 miles between fill ups.
How long have you been riding? I started riding when I was age 15. I am now 63 years of age. In that time I have ridden 1,000,000+ miles on motorcycles.
When did you joined the MSTA? I joined the club in Dec, 2013.
How did you hear about the MSTA? I remember the club as HSTA, but didn’t get around to joining till I retired in 2013.
Who or what was your biggest influence in motorcycling? The bikes themselves. I was aware of them at age two and have always liked motorcycles. I prefer motorcycle transportation over 4-wheel transportation.
What are your favorite place to ride? My favorite place to ride is Arkansas, particularly around Mountain View and Russellville.
Describe a memorable motorcycle adventure? Beartooth Pass in a snow storm in 1974, on a ’74 H-D Sportster. I left Red Lodge, MT early in the morning. It was overcast and a mere 38 degrees. By the time I got to the top of the pass, it was snowing and blowing. My ride was cold all the way to Cook, MN. That was before the age of electric gear.
What is the best motorcycle advice or tip learned through the years? Check your tires often. Don’t get lazy.
What turns you on about motorcycles or riding? I really enjoy being outdoors and the sense of freedom that riding offers. It’s true, you do meet the nicest people, and they aren’t all riding Hondas.
What are your hobbies and interests? I follow motorcycle road racing. I have no interest in hunting or fishing. I have pursued photography in past years. But mostly I follow MotoGP, World Superbikes and AMA Superbikes (even in its current sorry state of health).
