The National MSTA-STAR rally will be held in Cape Girardeau, Missouri over the official dates of September 6-9, 2020. The event, known under the abbreviation of STAR (Sport Touring Association Rendezvous), is now in its 37th year and has grown to an event that annually sees 300+ attendees from all over the US and Canada. It’s the largest rally that we put on every year and is one of the largest “Sport-Touring” events anywhere in North America.
The locations are always chosen in order to take advantage of the great riding in the area and this year is no exception. Cape Girardeau, sitting on the banks of the Mississippi in southeast Missouri, offers us easy access to the Mark Twain National Forest, the Ozarks of Missouri and Arkansas and the bottom land of Illinois. Great roads to ride and lots of great dual sport routes too! Official membership in the MSTA is not required to attend and we welcome all members, friends and family to the rally.
The Drury Inn and Conference Center
3351 Percy Drive, Cape Girardeau, Missouri 63701
The rally will kick off with a welcome reception for all attendees ands guests on Sunday evening at the hotel. Some of the other highlights of the event include the Members Meeting and awards on Monday evening, the Lunch Ride and free evening seminars on Tuesday and the Final Banquet on Wednesday evening. In attendees registration packets they’ll find information about the many vendors that come to the event, along with information about the area from the local tourism groups.
Door prizes are awarded daily to attendees. GPS help and routes will be made available to all registered attendees. A new member/1st time attendee group ride will be held on a day TBD.
A couple of highlights of the Banquet will be a keynote presentation by Ms. Wendy Crocket, the 2019 Iron Butt Rally Winner and the after dinner drawing for the major door prizes AND the MSTA member raffle drawing for a New Suzuki V-Strom that one lucky member will win!
Of course, the main reason most have for coming to these events is the Riding and you won’t find much better sport-touring riding than can be found in this area of the country. Great twisty roads with smooth pavement and almost no traffic can be found in almost every direction! In addition we hope to have demo rides presented by various dealers in the area.
Or just take a ride up and down the Great River Road along the Mississippi if that’s more your speed. Looking for opportunities to put some gravel in your travel? SE Missouri and southern Illinois will give you plenty of opportunities to do so. Looking for some night life? Downtown Cape Girardeau offers ample opportunities to eat and drink, along with a Casino on the riverfront.
Online registration is now open at PlanetReg.com and is $70.00 until May 15th. After that date and on-site, the cost will be $80.00. This includes the cost of the Wednesday evening Banquet, the seminars, door prizes and more.
The cost of an hotel room at the Drury Inn and Conference center is $115.99 +tax per night for a room with either 2 queen beds or 1 king bed. That rate includes a full breakfast in their hotel restaurant, as well as complimentary snacks and beverages during the Drury’s 5:30 “kickback”, held every evening.
There’s a Facebook group set up for attendees wanting to keep abreast of the latest information about the event at Sport Touring Association (STAR)–2020. Cape Girardeau offers many activities for families and outdoor enthusiasts, so there’s plenty for non-riders to do too. Hope to see you there in September!
