I often wonder what people mean when they make that statement "They went to the darkside." In the case of this bike, does that mean they went to BMW? Or.....? I don't know what they normally go for, but seems like a really good deal on a 3 year old bike with barely 7K on the odometer. Good luck to the seller.

I suspect it's a reference to a certain American-made motorcycle company based in Milwaukee. But less anyone think I'm being negative towards that brand, let me assure you I'm not. I rented a specific model last year within the "bagger" category for a couple of days, and I was impressed. It was a better bike than I thought it would be. The biggest problem was the starting price of $20,600. I've got less than that invested in all of my bikes combined, and I'd rather have multiple and varied bikes rather than just one with a fairly narrow focus.

Yes, Geoffrey I was thinking possibly the same thing. But with this type of bike, I was figuring more likely a certain German brand, also with a rather steep pricing. To each his / her own.

He went the HD route.  He likes the pace better. Someone will get a good bike out of it and my friend is happier.

A fellow I know here in Knoxville purchased an NC700X. I really liked the looks of it and he said he got 70+ mpg while riding pretty much however he wanted. On one particular day when he was riding at a consistent conservative speed, he said he got into the low 80s. But he also said it ran out of revs quickly and didn't give him the rush for which he was looking. He sold the bike after owning it for only a few months.

It may not be everyone's idea of performance, but for me, high mileage is high on my list of performance specs. I'm truly not in the market for a bike right now at any price, but this bike intrigues me. In another 5 years, when the used prices come down even more, I might look at one.

From my viewpoint, riding fast and revving the engine are two different things.  I have a similar bike but with DCT so the computer upshifts before you get anywhere near the rev limiter.  The NC engine does have a low redline and I believe it's lower than for my 4-cyl Accord but I don't care about that. 

ps. I've always bought the oddball Honda motorcycles (PC800, NT700V, NC700X) because it keeps me on the good guy list for the gatekeeper at Honda Heaven. :-)
