I stumbled on this site several years back. It is a good source for downloadable "Points of Interest" routes and technical information.
It has an active forum where you can post questions or even share your travels.

I have tested these maps in the USA and Europe. They are as accurate and often more up to date than City Nav. but generally very lacking in POI for the USA.
