Hi everyone, I'm a new member of the MSTA and I live in Colorado Springs, CO, site of the Star 2017 rally. I'm looking forward to making some new friends and enjoying some great rides at Star 2017. I've lived here since 1975 and ride street, dual-sport, and I love to trail ride. I'm planning to guide a dual sport ride and a street ride on some of my favorite roads if folks are interested, and I'll be helping out however I can to make the Star 2017 an awesome event. I'm guessing most people are riding here, but for the folks that are driving and bringing bikes-if you are planning to stay an extra day or two, after the Star is over I could lead you on a nice trail ride too. The high country trails above timberline may not be open yet in June, but there is some nice local stuff. You would need a trail bike/dirt bike/enduro bike for this. There are plenty of scenic twisty roads in Colorado, so whether you are riding a street bike or a dual sport bike, you're in for a great ride at the Star 2017. I ride a Honda VTR 1000 on the street, and I've got a Suzuki DR 650 dual sport bike. The dual sport ride I'm planning will be just dirt roads, nothing too technical, and a few paved roads, so anything from a big adventure bike to a 250 will work fine.
