Byway Boogie - the 20th Year!

Arkansas Byway Boogie - A Weekend Near Paris (Arkansas) October 17-19, 2014

We moved the event, now Non-Event, to Ozark, Arkansas and we are pleased with the accommodations. We found a nice place to eat on Saturday night at the Rivertowne BBQ near the river and close to the town square. The food is really good and I believe everyone had a great time the last two years. In addition, the weekend selected has a local music festival and that just adds to the enjoyment for those of us who are not able to ride.

Where is Ozark, AR? Check it out on Google Maps of Ozark, AR: https://goo.gl/maps/Q7aFZ

South takes you up Mount Magazine, the state's highest point, north points you up the Pig Trail, Ozark Highlands Trail and Arkansas' Highway 123 that makes The Dragon look more like the Gecko. And of course north and south will take you down the Scenic Seven National Scenic Byway.

Head east and you can climb to the top of Mt. Nebo through a series of hairy switchbacks that take you to a breathtaking view of the Arkansas River Valley. West, well OK there's not a whole lot of good riding to the west but with all the rest of the area's great roads who cares?

Offbeat destinations await too. Arkansas' oldest continually operating General Store, the 130 year-old Oark General Store lies at the end of Ark 103, a treat unto itself. Surrounding Paris are four of Arkansas' best wineries including the 140 year old Weiderkehr Family Winery and Brats Keller.

For dual sporters the Ozark National Forest boundary and plenty of dirt roads is just outside of gay Paris.

This is now a 'non-event' with no registration, fees or stuff. Also no t-shirts. To register, just make reservations at the hotel and show up.

Motel info:
Oxford Inn
305 N 18th St
Ozark, AR 72949
Ph# 479-667-1131

Rooms open out to the parking lot; King rooms are currently $65 a night plus tax
Oxford Inn Website - beware - flashy blinky thing! http://www.oxfordinnozark.com/

A backup motel is available also, the Ozark Inn, 1711 W Commercial St, Ozark, AR 72949, Ph# 479-667-1500. This motel is of equal quality as the Paris Inn our former location & the price is the same at (currently) $50 per night. They have 31 rooms available.

Not that there is much more information (show up. ride. have fun), but Curly Bob is the Disorganizer this year:

Be sure to make reservations early for the hotel, this falls on the big craft fair weekend.
There was also a music festival last year.
The Oxford Inn has been very kind to us since we moved there, the accommodations are great. Lots of good routes from Ozark.

Still a few rooms available at the Oxford Inn, but they won't last long.
Last year several people had to stay down the hill at the overflow hotel which is not as nice as the Oxford.
We all appreciate the hard work that Robert and Curly Bob have put into this!
Thanks,
Gayla

One week to go before the fun starts!

Looking forward to seeing everyone next Friday.
The lunch ride is going to Ferguson's this year and the dinner will be at the Rivertown BBQ again.
See you there,
Gayla

My first ride with the Louisiana Chapter.  Drove down from Illinois and had a great two days there!
