Top Schuberth is well over $900.  Likewise an Arai Corsair V is over $900.  Like I said, not TOO much more!

It would be easy to make fun of a "mere" $500+ difference. We all have to balance what we're willing to spend on gear to help us avoid a crash or decrease the severity of injuries due to a crash against what we can realistically afford. I'd jump all over something like this if the budget would allow.

Sorry but $400-500 more than the top end helmet is another good helmet (I've spent about 300-400 on the various Shoeis I've bought over the years). And its nearly 50% more, which is quite a bit.

Don't need all that technology in my head either.

Yes we are. Maybe has something to do with how we were raised, but I for one don't need every new gadget and doo-hickey that some marketing guru tells me I have to have.  And like Steve said "I don't need all that in my head." It's kinda like cars - they keep adding more and more "safety" stuff to cars (blind spot indicators, etc. etc.) that is begins to be no wonder that people driving think they can do so without paying attention. "Hey, the mirror will tell me if anyone is there - why look first?"

I have a good habit of looking in my mirrors, not everyone does. I have a friend who needs this... he has even talked about installing a goPro type camera with a screen on his handlebars and point the camera as a rear view mirror.  :( :(

I buy helmets that have good crash reports and have a drop down sun visor and are brightly colored but not at this price!

Ha-ha good one. Just some good natured ribbing Q, I wouldn't do it if I didn't love you man :)

But I wouldn't pay 800-900 for a helmet, certainly not $1400 which is a lot more.
