Yea I too usually just consider that I'm supporting MY club... THE BEST CLUB!!

In my case it's not going to matter how many chances I buy, the chance of me winning is still the same......zero :-*

I just consider it as a donation.

Choon, I'm no math whiz, as I'll leave that to two of our children that teach that subject. It seems in the example you gave you are talking ratios, rather than chances of winning. If there are 1.5k tickets sold, my chances of winning are 1 in 1,500, and correspondingly, with 3k sold, my chances are 1 in 3k. Therefore selling fewer tickets, yet creating the same revenue, actually enhances the members chances of being a winner, if they buy the customary number of tickets! Syd :)

Syd, you're absolutely right if you bought the same number of tickets as in previous years that your chances of winning will probably double, but you also spent twice as much as you previously did. The assumption that we went on is that most folks will spend about the same amount of money this year as in previous years, so they'll get half as many tickets. And since there'll be fewer tickets overall, the odds of winning will remain roughly the same. In my example, previously my odds were 8 out of 3000. Now my odds are 4 out of 1500. That's the same odds for the same amount of money spent.

Is that a good assumption? We think it's a reasonable one. Of course there'll be those who are totally turned off at having to pay twice as much for a ticket and decide not to buy any, and there'll be some who'll buy the same number of tickets as in previous years, the price notwithstanding.

Choon good points all around. I hadn't thought about the angle of people spending the same amount on tickets.

The chance of winning makes sense too.

I won't mind adding an FJR to the garage after winning it. It will go well with the Honda CBR300 that I'll win at my local Ride For Kids event this year. The only downside will be needing a bigger garage, but it's a small price to pay.

I may be asking this in the wrong thread - but here goes...

Does anyone know if there will be the Aerostich giveaway to a STAR attendee as in past years?  If so, is this connected to the raffle bike ticket you purchased, or the STAR wrist band number?  I can't recall.

The Aerostich is typically attached to the bike raffle but that has not been confirmed for this year yet.

If you don't want the raffle bike, the aerostich suit isn't a bad investment for your $8 or $10 ticket.
In the past you had to be present to win the suit (not the case for the bike).
Lucky for me at Taos, they called several names before they called mine.
I've never had gear that really fit, and custom made to fit by aerostich, I've worn it for several years now and it still isn't even broken in yet.
I'll always buy tickets, even if the odds of winning something again are remote, it's part of the fun of Star.

I know we have had a member (maybe more members?) win the raffle bike more than once.
That tells me that the raffle is a very small pool and your odds of winning are pretty darn good relative to other raffles! -JEP-

As of today you have 2 months to get your discounted raffle bike tickets.  April 1 will be here before you know it.  Don't forget to get your non computer savy riding MSTA friends on board too. Someone is going home with a FJR in June.  It can't be you if you don't get tickets!

If you don't want the raffle bike,

If you don't want the raffle bike, but still win it, sell it! Very simple. In 1996 I won a Suzuki Bandit in a AMA raffle. Didn't want it, but sold it easily and took a trip to Australia with the funds from that sale.

If you don't want to go thru the trouble of selling it, I'll do it for you (for a % of course) :-)
