Picked up my new 2014 ES Super Tenere
« on: May 09, 2014, 11:23:49 PM »
Yup 59.2 miles ago I picked up my 2014 Yamaha Super Tenere ES. Yes I still have my 2012 Yamaha Super Tenere. It now has over 64,000 miles and well the new Tenere has the electronically adjustable suspension and many more updates. It is cool!
Now to transfer as many accessories from the 2012 to the 2014ES.
This is a photo of me as I'm rolling it out of the dealer's showroom. It was rainy and drizzling the same as it was when I picked up the 2012 Tenere.

Well in 59.2 miles in the rain so far it's worth it... I do have an issue... I was running the Trax bags and the new ES bike has mounted the electrical box for the saddlebags where the right front mount is. A fix will be available June/July.

Brick, what is the electrical box for the saddlebags? I know that you have your Trax boxes on Givi racks and evidently there is some interference, it sounds like. A YST forum member, Mingo has posted pics where he mounted the SW-Motech racks and Trax bags on his 2014 ES with no problems.

Fred, I still haven't actually tried my mounts on the new bike. I'm out with Patricia this AM. Hopefully this after noon I'll try it.
Re: the electrical box... The electronics, behind the new cover there I've read is for the electronic suspension. I don't know any more than that.
More to come... Including photos.
Re: the SW-Motech racks. I spoke with Twisted Throttle yesterday and they didn't really know. They sent a reply to my question but basically wanted me to purchase the $337 SW-Motech mounts. Hmmm perhaps they did know?

Success the Givi racks work just fine. However, the only reason they work is because they are the ones with the quick release 1/4 turn fasteners that mount them. These lugs push the racks out 1 1/2" out giving enough room to clear the new side cover.

An additional success in that Yamaha has a new P/N for there accessory skid plate for the ES... the standard Tenere uses the old P/N skid plate. So I assumed that my old skid plate would not mount on the ES. Yippie it mounts just fine. Another big money savings.
A few more accessories to move the put the 2012 Tenere up for sale!

Excellent bike!  Looks like the upgrades do make a significant difference.
I had similar issues when I tried to move my Trax from my Tiger to the GS.  TT had to contact SW-Motech and order a part from Germany because the mounts did not work as advertised.  Glad the GIVI's worked out for you.
Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated!
