Title: I rode today! Jan 21, 2017
Post by: Brick on January 21, 2018, 08:19:14 PM
Now that may not seem like a big deal to many but to me it’s huge!! After 2 heart attacks gallbladder removal broken bones in my left hand. And more... I got to ride 206 miles! I had 6” of snow Tuesday night and I’m not supposed to shovel snow! I spread kitty litter on 15’ of Black ice in my driveway and 1/4 mile later I gingerly rode across 20 yards of more ice to ride. Yes I wanted it that badly!! It was a very fun very curvy route. Here are a few photos. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180122/f57c43b49cbcf368b803d12323fd6dcc.jpg) (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180122/b61e920b633d6a9b9b55d478cafacc77.jpg) (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180122/07b19d343cb9e468dec38249285e3d9c.jpg) There was lots of “crap” on the roads but I’m sooo glad I got out. It was 31 degrees when I started at 9:15am an we saw 65 degrees later.

Well done Brick. I can tell just by your words that you had a really good time. Glad you got out after the awful year you had last year. Look forward to seeing you out on the road.

Good for you.  I have ridden a little on each of the last 3 days. Hit 65 degrees today. Rain inbound now. Oh well,  we'll take em when we can get em, right?

Exactly! I’m gonna take them where I get them! Yes that was up White Oak Mtn... Skyuka. That road was much better than any of us anticipated.

Brick, glad to hear you are riding again!!  I rode about 75 miles of pavement and dirt on Sunday.  Found lots of mud and partially melted snow along the Yadkin River.

AWESOME!  Being able to ride again after all that must be amazing.

Good thing you live somewhere with moderate temparutes and hardly any snow so that riding in January is possible ;)  Amazing the cold and snow that has been in the SE this year, what'd you guys do to deserve it?

In case you forgot this "shoveling" tip from your years in the midwest, you can just set the shovel down and push the snow around. Not much more work than walking if you avoid doing all that lifting.
