(SOLD) Room at Big Lynn Lodge in Little Switzerland
« on: July 05, 2017, 10:48:48 AM »
Hi Folks!

My friend had to back out due to family conflicts. I now have a spare bed if someone wants to split the costs.
Your part would be $144.00 total for two nights (Friday and Saturday evenings)
Let me know and good riding to all coming down.

Sandy

I'll take care of this any way you want to do it. If you want, drop me a p.m. and we'll get this out of everyone else's way. I generally ride a baby GS (an F650GS thumper not to be confused with an F650GS twin cylinder 800cc bike).

What the heck...check your PayPal account. It's done.

Dale,

The usual drill is for people to reserve their room before they leave Big Lynn so that takes up most of the available rooms. And the hotel people are not there over the winter so you can't call them until sometime in the spring.

I had received many complaints that with the attendees reserving the rooms at checkout no different members could attend. So this year I didn't release any rooms until after the new year. With the staff only coming in once a week and checking voice mail then it was a big pain for the members.
There doesn't seem to be a way to please everyone.

look at it this way Brick.......if you hadn't started the event a few years ago, then some people might be complaining that there is nothing going on in July.  The fact that it is so popular that it fills up so quickly every year is proof that it's a good choice of location and that everyone enjoys it.  Don't sweat it.

I think that was a fair thing to do, otherwise its basically a closed event for those attending in the past years, unless people go the overflow hotel route (which you've worked out a good way as well). That doesn't help the image of MSTA that some feel is already very cliquish and closed to outsiders or newer members. (Yes I've heard that said by more than just a couple of disgruntled members.)

I know some of the other regional events are like this, where people reserve their rooms at check out (I recall it being done a lot at MPFB and Tri-STAR). But in those cases the hotels were not sold out so quickly preventing others from attending who weren't there to reserve a year in advance.

The Big Lynn only has 35 rooms so it can be filled instantly by people checking out.
