Title: STAR room mate
Post by: brider on May 14, 2016, 02:56:28 PM
With a daughter graduating from High School and a very heavy  work travel schedule I've screwed around and haven't gotten a room at STAR yet so I'm looking first to see who might need a room mate.  My usually offer applies.   :o   I only snooze if I don't have my cpap, fart only when I need to, stay out late most nights and drink cheap beer.  Yes I am the perfect roomate! ::)    Ping me if that works for you.

Apparently our sense of adventure shrinks as we get old.   ::)  I'm still looking for a room mate.

Might want to start packing that camping gear :-)

Scored a inexpensive room and then my room mate's wife pulled the plug on his trip so now I have a extra bed if someone needs a room checking in Sunday.  Contact me direct @ 937-672-6357.

It sounds like you needed a room, got one and a roomie OR got a roomie that had a room, and now you're back to needing a roomie again. Whew!

I was going to ride a Suzuki DR650S to STAR and worked off and on to get it ready to go. I changed my plans and decided to ride my BMW F650GS (thumper) when my post-STAR plans changed and worked to get it ready to go including a new set of tires. That's when my good friend Roger White discovered, when mounting the tires, that the swingarm bushings (or something) are toast. There's WAY too much play in the swingarm to be leaving on a long trip. Now I'm back to the DR650S.

Life gets complicated doesn't it?

Geoffrey, it's really nice to have a good spare bike in the garage, isn't it?

It certainly is...until it's time to pay my vehicle insurance.

Here's hoping that brider has as much luck in finding an alternative room mate as I did in having an alternative bike.

Surprising the room was very inexpensive so if I don't its not a big deal.

Bill are you sure it is really a hotel room, and not some sort of linen closet?

Speaking of bikes, about a week ago I had my 2 main bikes (98 VFR, 99 Sprint) both in the shop for some work, and sweating getting one back in time. Whew, picked up the Sprint and got in a short ride last weekend, have a few small things to do this weekend before leaving Friday. Its the preferred mount anyway with more storage and a more comfy ride. The VFR is getting some suspension work and should be much better too, but probably not ready in time.

If you're leaving Friday, you must REALLY be taking the long and winding way of getting there. Have a good time and watch out for the crazies and the wildlife.

To add to my brother's post - we are leaving Ohio NEXT Friday June 24 - 2 day ride to STAR. Over and out.

That makes more sense I suppose, but anything would have been possible. I AM taking the long and winding way of getting there, so I'm leaving day after tomorrow. I anticipate taking 5 days to get to Vermont as I wend (go in a specified direction, typically slowly or by an indirect route) my way up a bunch of secondary paved and gravel roads.

]  I'm sure it is smal but it is the two bed room unit.  Can't beat the price for budget minded riders!
