There must be some rules.
What riding gear is acceptable?
Are back protectors required?
Mirrors, turn signals, headlights, taped up or removed?
Condition of tires?
Will there be groups depending on abilities and prior track time?
Will there be ambulances in attendance?
Etc.

Alright...I've read the requirements and have a question. I KNOW it says you have to have leathers, but is a one-piece Aerostich Roadcrafter acceptable? No, it's not leather and the requirement IS leather. But the California Superbike School accepts a one-piece or two-piece (zipped together) Roadcrafter...at least they do at Barber Motorsports Park (my only other track day experience).

It doesn't meet the "made of leather ONLY" requirement, but I'd like to confirmation of Aerostich's non-compliance.

Wow, this is interesting but logistics is a problem. I shudder to think about trying to load the Concours in my cargo van! Anybody planning to ride in and camp and do bike prep Thursday?

Looking at your list of bikes in your signature I'd say that Ducati 1098 would make a great track bike.  8)

But, I think the idea of this track day is to run our sport tourers on the track, which I have been itching to do.3. :)
I actually bought the 1098 looking for a track bike to replace my SV650. But after I rode it I decided something a little more tame would be better for my health. So I bought a YZF R3.

After about 5,000 miles on the 1098 it still feels like I'm straddling a cruise missile. :-[

Being as "frugal" as I tend to be, yeah, I'd consider coming in a day early to camp and prep would be a perfectly fine option.

Starting to look like a plan. Temperature should be good for camping. Yeah, I need to be more frugal too. My entertainment budget (travel and booze) is ridiculous!

I like to camp but  with a roomy tent and big fat air mattress. I have enough trouble getting enuff sleep on my temperpedic at home.
Been ten years since I bike camped but I still have the equipment and can easily pack it on the Concours.

Planning a test ride/camp later this month.

Pitted next to a couple of Track Day Junkies at Nola Motorsports Park yesterday. They were from Picayune, MS and have done TDs at Jennings. They said is is a pretty nice track, good traction  and flowing layout; should be good for ST bikes.

For the non-camping crowd, we have been working on a group rate for accommodations at a nearby hotel for nearly a month!
Our hotel of choice is only 12 miles from the track so if you want to do some pre-track prep at the hotel you won't have far to ride.
Unfortunately the person that sets the discount rates for the hotel has been out of the country so we have been on hold in the meantime.
However, the staff has asked for those wanting to secure their reservations now, they have given us a rate of $72+tax/nite (this is no great deal as we can use our MSTA corporate ID and get it for $71+tax/nite).
The staff feels that they will be able to offer a better rate once they receive approval from the "Big Boss."
If you want to go ahead and secure a room reference MSTA/COG when you make your reservations. If a discount is applied you will be eligible for any rate change.
Thanks for your patience everybody. We will continue to keep you updated! -JEP-

I booked my room at the Quality Inn... they didn't find a reservation block for msta/cog but he knew of us. ??? Anyway I have a room for the 23rd and 24th. Chris Jernigan and I will be sending our checks to Dennis.  :D

It was kind of hard to find this thread with the hotel address and phone number as the other thread is in the Members only area and this is in the Fla area in Regional Forums.  :o

He has a Super Tenere and loves it. He did a 4400 mile Nova Scotia trip last summer -solo.

Our trackday payment is in the mailbox, but I doubt it'll get picked up today. Frickin snow...

He said he loved it when he rode my 2012... then wanted me to give it to him. So he finally bought one? I still love mine too!
I did Nova Scotia last summer on mine too!

I booked at the Quality Inn. Spoke to Sandra. She said the group is listed under 'Dianne Park', not MSTA/COG. $71.06 + an outrageous 20.1% tax = $86 per night.

I'm not surprised that they got that screwed up!
Dianne made many phone calls to them over a two month period. They ultimately gave us a "group" rate the same as our Choice Hotel (MSTA) corporate rate. However they are at the closest exit to the track so we stuck with that hotel. There are other hotels at that exit but some are pricier and/or not as close to restaurants (walking distance). -JEP-

I stayed at that particular QI a couple months back and found it to be just fine.  Walking distance to a good restaurant next door (Cowboys).  Sure wish I could have made this event.  A prior commitment the same weekend is keeping me at home.  Hope it is a great time for all who make it!

Ok it's getting close... I am staying at the hotel and so will be riding to the track on Friday from the hotel on the bike I'm doing the training on. So... I was reading that lunch is on our own. Will there be a place that we can purchase lunch at the track?

If not... what are those camping at the track planning on doing?

Obviously I'm not an old pro at this ... just old!

Doug, the tack day leader guy over at the COG forums says:"We have food concessions on site for breakfast and lunch".
Nola Motorsports has a restaurant at the track and they open for lunch on track days, likely the same at Jennings. I prefer to bring my own chow, a sandwich and trail mix.

I am also staying at the motel (Quality Inn) but I am trailering with my cargo van so I will bring an ice chest with water and gatorade and room for sandwiches. You and any other MSTAers are welcome to stash chow, drinks and gear in my van. I usually have my track bike in the van but the Concours is bigger than I want to try to get in and out, not even sure my ramp would hold it. Hence the trailer for the Connie and the van will have lots of room. I can bring an extra ice chest if needed.

Whoa! Bob you still Da-Man! My usual lunch if available is yogurt and a banana and some granola type thing so I wouldn't need much room. Well a few bottles of water and Diet Coke too. I figure if you have room I would go to a grocery the evening before. I don't know what my buddy Chris would want but probably not much more than me.
Thanks.
See you there! This should be fun stuff!

Mapquest says there is a Subway samich shop as well as a Winn Dixie supermarket walking distance from the Quality Inn, perfect!
I'll have plenty of room.  I'll bring a chest for drinks and one for food. And some extra folding chairs.

I'm looking forward to it!

Well...my 4-wheeler decided to take a few days off, so my plans are changing. I was going to trailer my bike to the track and pitch a tent to save a few $. With the cage being out of commission, I'm riding to, during, and from. So with the fuel savings of 50-55ish mpg vs 17 mpg, I've decided to spring for a room at the Quality Inn. I suppose I'll see some of you there.

Please send articles to editor@flmsta.org
