Title: Out With The Old, In With The New
Post by: Ohiomsta on May 08, 2015, 11:18:42 PM
The Burgman and the Sreet Triple have left the building and a 2015 Versys 650LT has moved in.
So far I have lowered it 2" and added a Vista Cruse. Still need to add a top case, tank bag and some extra wiring. Finely Kawasaki took a big bunch of the ugly away from the Versys and added a bunch of upgrades to the bike. I think it's going to be a very good light sport tourer. Time will tell.

It's funny how people can see the same bikes and think the opposite.  I really like my 2010, and think the new ones look too much like, well, everybody else.  And yes, I outfitted mine as a tourer (took it to STAR in Avon from SoCal) and it took to it just fine...

I have to agree with Jon on this one.  The new model looks so much better than the older model.  It should work out really well for what you want it for.

A plus is that everyone will see you coming now....can't miss that lime green color!  :)

Come on now, the alien head headlight on the 2009 model is unique.

Nice choice Jon but you and Dianne can't ride together as that will be waaaay to much green going down the highway!
Enjoy the new ride! -JEP-

Jim

We'll just put them two out in front and let them ride "bandit"......nobody will even notice anyone else!

I looked at the 1000 Versys today, wish it had the HI-VIZ green.

I saw an orange Versys 1000 today, looked pretty good.

I rode with dad today to get the break in miles on his new Versys. First impression, looks great. Evidently, Kawasaki has been watching the Versys forums, as it appears they redesigned most anything that was griped about over there. It is definitely an improvement over the 2009 I had, which was still a great bike. I can't believe how much lower it sits than the one I had, 2 inches is a huge difference. The Kawasaki hard bags appear to be huge (they are no longer rebranded Givi V35's). The windscreen is larger, easier to adjust (no tools required) but I am still on the fence on how well it works, still looks small to me. The addition of hand guards is a welcome improvement. The gauge cluster is completely redesigned, I'm not sure if I like better or not as I didn't ride the bike.

As for the ride, about 200 miles, 2 bike shops, lunch at Young's dairy (BTW, thanks for buyin'), a bathroom clearing at Young's Dairy (make your own assumptions), a huge rock chip in the top of the tank of the Versys ( #thatsucks ), and 2 pairs of female nipples flying free (again, make your own assumptions). Not a bad day, for me anyway...

You see the chicks showing their tits and get a free lunch. I miss seeing the chicks, buy lunch, get a rock chip and get mooned by the 80 year old dude in the bicycle shorts. Yep, I do think you had the better day!

Alright Jon way to go! I think the new Versys is cool too. The bags have got to be the same ones that are on the Ninja 1000... same shape and all.
I think it's a great choice! Cool bike!

I do also think Jay got the better end of ride however. Well as far as the stone chip... it was bound to happen some way at least now it's out of the way!

Cool bike!  Hope it works out perfect.

I'll miss the Street Triple a little, though.

Yes Brick they are the same bags with the same mounting system.

I had to modify the top box bracket on Dianne's Ninja so we could mount BOTH the side bags and top box as the Kawasaki design is an either or design. Is your bike the same or does it allow both mounts? -JEP-

Jim, yes they will both fit on the Versys. In fact in Europe you can buy a Versys 650 Grand Tourer with the top box, driving lights and some others extras from the factory.

Add that bumblebee stitch to that lime green bike and it looks like someone threw up shubert ice cream!   ;D
