Title: Mileage Log
Post by: NinjaBob on March 29, 2016, 06:25:57 PM
This is the annual reminder to existing mileage loggers and an invitation to new forum subscribers to join the motorcycle Mileage Log, http://www.wfr-ridersclub.com/miles/miles.asp (http://www.wfr-ridersclub.com/miles/miles.asp)  Also, I would like to announce a couple of enhancements to the Mileage Log. One is an email reminder  option. Only a few of the registered loggers are updating their mileage with any regularity. To help you remember to update you can now opt to receive either a weekly or monthly email reminder. The reminder can be discontinued at any time. To modify your reminder selection click on your user name on the main page and then click the EDIT PROFILE button and select a radio button on the bottom row. Of course if you want a reminder you must make sure a current, valid email address is shown in the email box. The email reminder will come from bob@wfr-ridersclub.com. Your profile page and email address is visible only to you and only with your password.
The second enhancement is ROAD LOG, a page for each user to blog about great roads they have discovered or comment on anything of interest encountered during a ride. Photographs can be included. There is a link button to the  Road Logs on the main page as well as one on the individual rider pages. An asterisk next to the rider name on the main page indicates the rider has a road log, a red asterisk means the log entry is less than 24 hrs old.
Check it out. Questions, comments and suggestions are welcomed, contact me here, by PM or use the contact form on the website.

Great, Bob!http://ridemsta.com/mstaforums/Smileys/default/grin.gif

I just found this, so I got on and registered.  I added my name, my 2 road bikes, and my current and historical (hysterical?) mileage to the log.

Once I have something to write about, I'll start my own roadlog, too.

I registered.  But, found there's a character limit on the "other ride" section.  I could not fit 2016 Triumph Speed Triple R  It stopped my at Trip.  No big deal, I found a way around it, and don't know how many more characters people would need.  Just something I noticed.

Thanks for registering Chris! And thanks for pointing out the field limitation. I will add some space to the bike fields, I had not realized some names were so long. The problem is I'm running out of room on the main display page but I'll see what I can do.

I have updated my mileage for the year to date.  I tried to post a Road Log, but when I tried to look at it, it comes up with a message that I'm being redirected, but then nothing ever happens. :-(

Keith, you DID successfully post a log about the Covered Bridges ride. If you tried to upload an image, that function is not working correctly, the image uploads but does not show in the log. You can add an image by using the insert image tag button. I will work on it today and tried to get it working better.

Hi Bob.  I've updated my current year mileage again.  I'll have another update next week after my 1000-in-one ride this coming Saturday.  Moving up the list....

I was also looking at my other statistics, and think I may have found a bug.  I believe that the life miles is adding the current year (good) and last year's mileage (not so good) to the life miles that I entered in my profile.  In my profile, I entered my lifetime mileage up through 2015, so the life miles shown on the summary includes the 2015 miles twice in the current life miles.  If that is what we want to do, we need to enter lifetime miles up through 2014 only, or we should not add the 2015 miles to the lifetime miles entered in the profile.

Thanks for keeping this.  See you at STAR in VT.

Thanks Keith, for the bug report. For riders who registered in 2014 or earlier the base lifetime mileage is as of 2014 so folks who registered in 2015 will continue to have 2015 miles as well as 2016 added to the running lifetime miles. I have added some code to track what year a rider registered and 2016 registrants will no longer have the 2015 miles added, since as you pointed out those miles are already in.  This should make everyone's lifetime mileage correct. If someone's looks off it is probably because I mis-remembered which year a rider registered.

See you in Vermont!
