Very good Ron! I got a new DS to ride and makes big dust! Hope you can join us and the fun!

Turns out Nancy isn't going to be able to go to Staunton this year. Anyone have a room reservation and need a roomie to share costs? Full disclosure - I do snore.
-
Just tried to make a reservation and all they have are rooms with 1 queen bed.

Sorry to hear room options are gone! There are many other lodging options available in Staunton. I used the Best Western many times-note trains pass by during the night. Some other riders are staying downtown at the Howard Johnson. Hope you join the fun!

When STAR was in Staunton, Randy Logan and I stayed in a "cabin" over at the KOA a few miles away. Bring your sleeping bag, but it's inside, reasonably comfortable, and way cheap in comparison.

Campbell and I will be at the Holiday 5 miles away. See you all there.

Dual Sport. We will be there Friday morning.

We had 25 or so dual sport riders for Friday and Saturday dry rides. A variety of terrain-gravel, hardpack, boulders, loose rock and paved connectors. A couple tip-overs on the challenging sections. And about 10 street riders! Thanks to all for joining the fun!

That first section was a lot for these short legs on the DR. Pinched a wire that popped my main fuse so we had to find that to get me going and I busted my hump a couple of times on the two tough spots. Lower gearing on the big bike would have helped but at the end of day I walked away to enjoy some beverages and the bike will live to fight another day. Next time no cans on and lower the gearing a bit. We had a great time and look forward to the next time.

Sorry that you had some mechanical issues. That section is the toughest one for the area. Next year, I will do a better job of offering a go-around. The afternoon sections had plenty of loose rocks with descents/ascents. Not a beginner's ride.
And there are many other track/route options to ride, without the difficult ride sections.
See you next year!

I had a ball. My TTR 250 just would have been a better choice.
