Just a perfect setting for our return to LUNCH rides!! Join us, won't you? Great scenery and atmosphere, good food, decent prices, paved parking and accessible to many Florida riders. They don’t take reservations, and it’s a popular place, so we want to be there at 11:00 AM when they open.

SATURDAY, October 5
11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Lake Harris Hideaway
1912 Lane Park Rd, Tavares, FL

Big Lynn Lodge Ride / Re: I'm excited!

I'm currently wishing there was an event in Arkansas this weekend rather than West Virginia. Rain associated with the recent Gulf storm is running SW to NE right up the Appalachians and sitting there for the next 4-5 days.

General Discussion / Re: Group Riding Thoughts.....SIZE Matters!
« Last post by stevegrab on September 24, 2024, 09:34:17 am »
Great stuff, I particularly like the advice in #3, people need to be proactive and seek out others to ride with if they are new to the group. Don't wait for somebody to ask you to join them.

Add that that all of us long timers with our own preset groups can be more open to others who ask to join us. Last year at Fly By somebody I knew, but never rode with, asked if they could join our group. I said sure, and we connected our comms before leaving and chatted and had a good time on the ride.

Wow what a story, so glad to hear you've mended so well. Heading out on such a big trip, on a relatively new to you bike is quite an adventure alone, then add in the recent injury and rehab.

Hope to see you later this week at FCR.

General Discussion / Re: Movie...The Bikeriders

Nope, not interested. Just a modern version of the same old lame $hit distributed by lame Hollywood. They shouldn't glorify that crap.
TM
Very few unique ideas these days, and glorifying crime will probably never end.

My son and I saw it a couple weeks ago. It seemed to me that they tried to recreate what they thought was a typical 1960's era outlaw motorsickle gang movie, but in my opinion they overdid everything. The "Chicago" accents were a bit too much. The leader of the gang was named Johnny, naturally and to demonstrate how tough he was, any time he talked he had a cigarette dangling from his lips while talking. Sometimes, it was lit, other times not, but by golly there it was dangling.

On the other hand, the day we saw it, the outdoor temperature was 101 and the air conditioning in the theater was very cool. Wish I could have said that about the movie.

Hilarious way of putting it Fred.

General Discussion / Re: What brand of motorcycle(s) do you own?
« Last post by Ride4MS on September 09, 2024, 07:27:59 pm »
I know what you mean by drawing a crowd. Whenever riding a CBX, especially in town, no other cycle would even think about trying to convince you to race them. They had no idea what it was when they met a cycle that had cylinders hanging way out of both sides. It should have been called, "The Scary Beast".

I had a 82 CBX that I rode 8k a year on trips.  My concern was always brakes and of course tires.  Rock tied to a rope would have been better braking!  The coolest thing was no matter where we rode it drew a crowd when I stopped.
