Does someone have to be a BMWOA member to attend?
no not at all I got an award at this rally years ago for being the only guy on a KLR!
Geoffrey pls. get better soon. Yes there are BMW Rallys but I like you must be selective on which ones I can attend. Most BMW people pitch tents and I'm ok with the Mini Rally and the National but like the ac comforts of Holiday Inn or something similar. Hoping to ride with you at one of the MSTA Rallys sometime. Re: camping
At this point in my life I'm not sure if I really like sleeping on the ground, ie camping, or if it affords me options I wouldn't otherwise have...maybe both. It gives me the option of extending a trip to Colorado by a couple of weeks for not a lot of $. It also gives me the option of spending the night in a fair number of off-the-beaten-track places...which I really do like. I've always felt most alone in 1) a room full of people I don't know followed closely by 2) being in a motel, or the like, alone. Pitching a tent in a deserted campground doesn't give me that same sense of "aloneness". In that environment I get more of a sense of peacefulness even with the solitude.
I look forward to riding with you as well.
I hope to get my cast off my left hand this coming Wednesday, but if they decide I need a couple of fingers taped together, that will be just about as limiting as the cast. That would be disappointing.
