I remember in 2010 we went to Avon after the STAR in Taos NM, they had some late snow that year in the Rockies, maybe just 2-3 weeks before we were there (which was late June). Independence pass had just recently been opened.
So these late season snows, coupled with riding in CO 2-3 weeks or more before normal (first week of June) could find some residual affects of the snow.
I too love riding in CO and look forward to returning, especially to the area around Gunnison, and another trip through Rocky Mtn Nat Park hopefully with less construction this time. But this year the plan for after STAR is to focus on Montana, especially the western moutainous part, including a trip to Glacier.
