Yeeeeehaaaw!!! New member from Texas
« on: January 27, 2015, 02:18:23 pm »
Hey there everybody!  New member here from the Houston, TX area.  Currently riding a 2007 Honda VFR.  Recently sold my 2008 Triumph Speed Triple for something a little more comfortable on longer trips.   Enjoy riding the outskirts of Houston, Huntsville, Galveston, Austin, Twisted Sisters, Big Bend, and Hill Country.   Looking for like minded people to ride with.  Seems like all my buddies want to do these days is ride 15 minutes to the local bars.   I prefer the longer trips along low traffic twisty roads where I can see some nice scenery along the way, all while listening to the V4 engine purr underneath.  Looking forward to meeting and riding with some of you.

Welcome J! I look forward to meeting you at one of the events. I'm from Virginia, so we won't be doing any day rides. You have other members closer to you, at least two of which are VFR riders. Look up Membership Director Choon Gan, and former Pres., Michael Snyder.Take care, Syd ;D

Hey, Welcome... I assume J!

I too enjoy riding the Texas Hill Country and have made that trip many times.

Not riding bar to bar... you sound just like us! Oh don't get me wrong we will crack a few cold ones but AFTER the ride not during! I too look forward to meeting and riding with you sometime.

Welcome.  I think you will find many like minded people in this group for sure.  We certainly aren't the type that just rides 15 miles to a bar.  More like the kind that rides 1500 miles for good BBQ!

Sounds great.    What's the best way to find out when and where people are riding in my area? Do I just visiting the events section of this forum?

PS.  I too enjoy "A" cold one after a day of riding ;)

Thanks!
Jorge S.

As others have said, you're in the right place, this group focuses on riding.

As for keeping up with local activity you can start with the info on the web site and forum, but there are a limited number of people on the site. If you have not already joined the MSTA (filled out a membership application) I strongly recommend doing that. You'll get the national newsletter, as well as your local (Texas) newsletter, and a membership book that will allow you to reach out to others in your area.

Texas does have an active group, and I suspect some of them will be along in the coming days to offer you more info on the local Texas activities.

If you have not joined the MSTA yet, but are considering it, I recommend finding an event you want to attend (STAR in Springdale AR June 21-24, Texas Hill Country Rally November I think) and joining at that time (many events offer a free one year membership with paid event attendance.

Hi Jorge,

Thanks for joining the MSTA. Your membership registration is in my inbox which I'll process over the weekend. You'll receive a membership packet shortly thereafter and I'll also be forwarding your contact info to Leigh Anderson who is our asst state director for the Houston area.

Choon,
Thanks, I received the welcome package the other day. Question, where do I find the "gearbox store" on the website.  Couldn't find it myself.

Thanks,
Jorge
