Another super star leaves to race in the clouds.

Local Memphis Flat-track, MX, and road-racer star, Fred (Super) Smith died yesterday.  We all thought that he was recovering from lung cancer, but he turned for the worse to everyone's surprise.  Fred raced locally and nationally, #42 and spent most of his later years working on an oil rig and amateur racing life in Ecuador before returning to Memphis recently.

He became my first motorcycle racing idle when I used to watch him race (and win) on his Yamaha 125cc 'twin' against flat-track bikes twice it's size at the Memphis Fairgrounds indoor arena.  I latter had the privilege of riding with him on dirt bikes in Ecuador, then locally last year.  RIP, Super Fred.........then kick their butts!
Sr. Top Gun. (If it weren't for Billy)
