Turns out the accident occurred on Potash road SW of Dead Horse Point.
Updated info from Michael Jones: "The man who was with her issued a statement and he said the potash road soon after it turned dirt and rough." Based on this more detailed information, this is what I see...
Allan Skinner, Tim Zimmer and I rode Potash road many times as a more fun way to get to the White Rim trail, so I know that road pretty well. From the main road north out of Moab, Potash road goes west along the north shore of the Colorado river. It's paved until it reaches the potash plant, then turns to rocks, gravel and dirt. It winds around the potash evaporation pools, then heads west toward the White Rim trail. I remember several places where the road passes near cliffs, most of which are about 150 feet high. (using the Google distance measuring tool.)
Looking on the 3D Google map and following potash road, I located the first cliff, and it turns out to be a bit southwest of Dead Horse Point as stated in the description. You can see the location marked with the arrow in the first screen grab. The second grab is zoomed in in 3D mode. The road itself is rocky here- not just gravel. It's also a right hand bend with the dropoff on the outside of the bend. CAN'T SAY for sure that it happened here, but there's only a couple more cliffs next to the road between here and where Potash road joins White Rim trail. The apex of the curve is right where the 142 tag had to place itself in the screen grab. I will link the Google Maps page below for those who want to explore.
IMHO, Potash road is a much more understandable place for the accident to occur.
