Schedula for Star 2018
« on: April 16, 2018, 11:00:29 am »
Is there a schedule out for Star 2018?  I will be at Rocker Box Friday and leaving Sun.  Don't want to miss to much racing by leaving to early Sunday but don't want to miss anything at Star that might be happening on Sunday.

Thanks

The official opening for STAR is usually Sunday night at 6PM which is the Welcome Ceremony. However there is a lot of socializing that starts on Saturday as well as all day Sunday. -JEP-

Schedule will be finalized very shortly, but generally there is no official goings on until the welcome ceremony Sunday evening.  About 1/2 the people arrive by Saturday and the other 1/2 make it in on Sunday.

Wish I had more time. I'd love to go to R/A before STAR. Just sayin'.  TM

I've always wanted to go there and thought this might work out, but it won't.

Here is a brief overview of the schedule.
There are many Riders that signed up to arrive on Saturday, to get in some extra riding.

The schedule has something for everyone, not just rides.  Welcome Ceremonies on Sunday night as well as New Members/First Time Star Attendees meeting to tell you about the event.
Monday morning has the Ladies of MSTA Meet & Greet Session.  Monday evening the Annual Members Meeting.

Tuesday evening there are several seminars; Snell Memorial Foundation talking about helmet ratings, AMA speaker, Vendor speaker and more.  And we cannot forget the Tuesday Lunch Ride, designed by Minnesota's Ray Kang.
Wednesday evening has the Closing Banquet.
Throughout the week, there are hundreds of door prizes given away.  Just check the door prize board for your STAR registration number to see what you have won.  From T-shirts to Battery chargers, to gift certificates ranging up to 50% off and $750.00 and a 2-night cabin stay in cycle hill country, several $100.00 certificates and much more.
This is just some of the events planned along with the Breakfast Buffet each morning to give you a chance to meet new riders.
There will also be several vendors available during the week, for tires, riding gear, and much more.
This is all included in your registration at no extra cost, except for the Tuesday lunch.  A small fee to the lunch, if you decide to join us, which we hope you do.
If you have not signed up yet, now is the time.  Early Bird registration ends May 15.  See the latest issue of STAReview or on-line on this forum.

See you in La Crosse.

It’s been pretty quite here on the forum for the past few days. I assume everybody is busy prepping their bikes and taking care of last minute details before leaving for STAR! -JEP-

Yeah, just you wait and see. And I guess you & Dianne are busy trying to stay dry in Florida. No riding for you this weekend; be safe and see you at STAR.

I just got back from TriSTAR! it was a smaller turnout than in past years. We all speculated that fewer attendees because of some iffy weather and because STAR is only a few weeks away.
We got wet yesterday afternoon but the morning ride was fantastic! Today there is a threat of rain this afternoon too. Doug Pippin, Dan from Chicago and I had a nice ride. It was only 92.5 miles to my house. Doug and Dan rode on towards Asheville.
If you didn’t attend you missed a great ride.

The Tenere is my road bike but either it or the FJ09 would work.

Weather at TriSTAR
Thursday was a lovely day.
Friday...a few scattered showers in the area, but for most folks, it was dry and nice. A few folks, including Jim Roberts who rode to Sparta from Iowa on Friday (918 miles!), experienced a shower in the West Virginia area, but were dry the rest of the day.
Saturday...a.m.was just fine (as Brick noted) with ~2 hours of rain after lunch. Late afternoon and evening was just fine...dry and a little cooler.
Sunday many of our riders left for home. Those few staying were rewarded with a fine, albeit a bit overcast, day. Unless you went somewhere with enough elevation to get into the clouds (like the top of Whitetop Mountain...where I went. Maybe, just maybe, that sort of thing is how the mountain got its name) it was dry and just fine.
My trip home on Monday started dry and I made it to Johnson City, TN still that way. I met my sister and brother-in-law there for some lunch, and the rains came while we visited. But at that point, I didn't care.

Attached pic is from near the top of Whitetop Mountain looking south.
