New helmet time
« on: February 27, 2017, 08:13:47 pm »
Time to buy a new helmet to go with my new bike.  My go to helmet supplier is no longer around so let's hear some suggestions where a guy can get a good/great deal on Shoei helmets.

Give the Helmet Shop(Daytona Beach) a look, bought my Shoei 1200 at a good price
http://www.helmetshop.com/
They might have some good sales going on near Bike Week

Wish I knew, I bought my last new one from Amazon, with the savings I get on gas (Giant Eagle Fuel Perks) the approx $450 RF1200 (red large) plus $50+ tinted shield cost about $470. I could not find a good deal elsewhere online or at any retailer.  (I get 10 cents off per $50 spent, sometimes extra bonus on gift cards and always get close to my 30 gallon max, so every $100 is $6 in gas saving.)

The last one before that was a closeout (RF1000 I think when RF1100 were coming out) at Iron Pony and was about $100 off list. Same with the one before that, local dealer was dropping Shoei and dealing on leftovers. Quint Marcaletti bought one (RF1100 I think) in matte black at the Cleveland bike show last year (Jan 2016) that was a great deal, think it was $200.

You might try checking Iron Pony and a few other places, if you're willing to take an unpopular color you may find a great deal.

PS  I just checked the Helmet Shop and their RF1200 solids are $485, about $35 more than I paid on Amazon (sold by Extememoto). Quick search on Amazon most prices showing closer to $490-500

Good luck Bill.  New knees, new bike, new helmet I guess saving money drinking Keystone Light has paid off :)

Personally, I favor Shark, not Shoei.  But I've done well with these guys.  http://www.sportbiketrackgear.com/shoei-closeouts/

One of the guys on the ST-Owners forum reported getting a Neotec from Helmet Hotline in Rochester NY for $549.  Ask for Jeff at (585) 287-5540.

You might consider the service pavilion in New Holland, Pennsylvania
They trailor to many of the larger races and custom fit the helmets on the spot.
Robert is the owner and "Go To" guy

They are an Arai dealer

Bill, with that big head of yours . . . oops, I'd better not go there!
Biggest selling helmet in Europe is LS2, and my wife and I each have a pair, both open and full face.  The Euro spec is much better than DOT imho.  You can see them at Amazon and Revzilla.

A friend got his girlfriend an LA2 and she really loves it. I was looking at them at a local bike shop, Fun Cycles in Valdese, NC and I'm impressed. For the price I may have to try one.

These guys usually have some good deals if they have your size.

Wow an RF-1200 Marquez Indy replica for $379, in many sizes, that is a bargain with solids in that model costing about $450.
