The Bluebook Poll
« on: September 11, 2017, 04:05:25 pm »
I changed the poll questions based on Norm's suggestion and Galen's request.  I also started the poll over and extended the date to vote until the end of October. I moved so that those members who have not requested Members Only section access can still vote.  This poll is only one tool that the EC will use to gauge member preference.  We realize that this only will give us insight into the preference of those that actually vote here and that number may well not be the majority of members.  To that end, we will encourage more informal polling as was done at the last STAR and the the BS rally and will also consider those results.  We also encourage members to let their views be known on Facebook and in emails, letters, phone calls, or in person.  With the end of the year coming up quickly we will need to make a decision for 2018 very soon on the Bluebook, and a host of other subjects.

Please use this for VOTING ONLY and move all discussions to another thread.  We don't want people to be influenced by others,  but to vote based on what they personally think.  We still encourage discussion and ideas and will start a seperate thread for that.

Thank You.

Don’t forget to vote!  Only a few days left.  Everyone should have gotten their latest STAReview by now and have had the chance to read the letter from the EC.

I can see the last option (Online with printed version available for extra members cost) as being very difficult to manage.
The print costs for 500 Bluebooks will be different than 50. If you have for example 500 members initially wanting the books then after hearing the price their interest may drop....what then?
I can see this becoming a can of worms. -JEP-

Yes Jim, that is a definite. May even be hard to find someone who would be willing to print only 50 copies. Depending on how it is handled, yes it could turn into a can of worms. But, there are places where one can upload their book, article, whatever, and then people print it on demand. I would suggest that be the way to do it. That way the club has little to no capital outlay, and the cost of a book is known by the person when they order it. I don't know how easy it would be for the club to set up, or how we keep to members only, but could try and do some leg/telephone work to get more info.

My STAReview arrived in the last couple of days, I was behind on my reading and just put it aside. Didn't know (or remember) there was going to be a ballot/vote in it.

OOps,. my bad, apparently the vote is in this forum, and I'll do that right now.
