Mich. members....who was it?
« on: February 15, 2015, 07:31:50 AM »
just wondering which Michigan member had an electrical breakdown in Monteray, WV this past April, while traveling from NC back home?

Whomever it was garnered a mention in the latest issue of Road Runner......and some free publicity for the club!   ;D

The writers of their article about a shamrock tour using Snowshoe WV as the hub, said they ran across you and other MSTA members at a gas station in Montery.  You where trying to diagnose and repair an electrical problem on your Duc.

I'm guessing everything turned out ok?  I really am concerned, really.  It's not like I would ever want to poke fun at someone having their Ducati breakdown somewhere in the wilds of WV.   ::)

I believe that was Bruce Van Vorheis on his black ST3.
Italian electrics are a direct copy of an old Lucas design.

Wasn't it some chap named Murphy that was the lead engineer for Lucas?   :)

Pat while you're poking fun at this person you may want to poke a little at yourself.

First it is Monterey (not ray), second it is VA not WV. This is on US250 just over the mountains and across the state line from the area we frequent while at Snowshow or Lewisburg for FCR (Durbin/Bartow is the town on the WV side). ;)  If RoadRunner got those wrong, then we can poke them...

Oh and electrical problems on a Ducati imagine that. So far only my Honda (VFR) and Kawasaki (Ninja 650R) have plagued me with some electrical issues (stator/RR) while it is my Triumph (Sprint) that sprung a whicked gas leak last year after I rode it to work. I think my Suzuki Bandit is the only bike I've owned that didn't strand me once. (Of course I was a newbie then so maybe I was gentler with the machine.)

Steve.....I am ALWAYS laughing at myself first and foremost.   ;D

It WAS MonterEY, but they didn't say which state.  Y'all know what they say happens when you assume, right?

And I can tell you some stories about breaking down that I can laugh at now, but at the time sure weren't funny.  Me and Mr. Murphy have been on several adventures together. :o

Pat and you've also been on the fetching end of a broken down bike or two (I recall one at Mail Pouch), and bike transportation to boot (for my brother's VFR). You're a good man.

Having been broken down before I know what you mean, very hard even today with cell phones and many good friends to help me out. That feeling of being stranding and waiting makes it seem like forever.

And I'll second that remark - Pat is a good man. Thanks again Pat.  :)
