We have essentially the same here with major roads & interstates leading to large cities and towns that are the county seat.

Go back to the website http://roadstorome.moovellab.com/countries and scroll down it shows the USA. This is NOT the interstates but the roads "to"! Then scroll in and see more. Very interesting.

Yeah, I didn't mean to type "interstate."  The other roads were probably created by people traveling to buy/sell things are the town market.
