STAR routes

<< < (2/4) > >>

Landon:
You guys are probably right, looks like it would be a long day to make it to Mt. Washington and is probably just to far for a rally route.

HawkGTRider:
We have members in that area that "might" be planning on leading a ride to Mt Washington. It would be a full day and it could all be for naught if you get there and the road is closed. But you won't know if you don't try.
Even if no one "leads" a ride, I believe our members could figure out how to get there and back by looking at a map.

Stay tuned for more Mt Washington info.

DirtFlier:
[...STAR is still several months away, but I was wondering if/when some daily ride routes might be posted...]

This is way, way early to expect STAR routes; especially since it's an area that we've never used previously.

Mount Washington's weather observatory has a great website with current information and forecasts to facilitate planning.

In 2013 I visited the entrance and was not allowed to ride up on a motorcycle due to high winds. I checked into a motel and checked the forecast for the next day, Sunday. It looked positive and I was indeed able to make the trip to the top, although the summit was in the clouds. Even so it was worth the effort.

When we rode to Newfoundland in 2014, we stopped at Mt Washington, and it looked like a perfect day to do it...We were stopped at the gate because there was a bicycle race on that road.  We tried it again on our way back.  Again it looked to be a perfect day.  This time it was closed again as there was a car race on that road!  We were extremely pi$$ed.  Not sure where you might be able to find info on those events.  Its a congested area too with high tourism, so traffic is an issue.
