What is your favorite farkle?

Bike:  Here is my favorite as of this year with the weather.
Garage:  Too many to list with the 28'X 50" heated garage.  Best thing I did was to add on about 9 years ago.

Some closeups of my motorcycle toy collection and a couple of the rarer posters.  I’ve got hundreds of other posters stored in my basement, that I’ve picked up at various races and shows over the years.  None of those are especially rare, but many are signed.  I’ve picked up most of my pictures, posters, and signs that I’ve put up, from antique stores and flea markets.  My basement holds my workshop and has a walkout, so I do most of my work down in that area.

If tools and machinery are out of bounds, I would say the reusable clip-on wheel weights for the FJR fill the bill.

Weeeellll, not exactly, if you can find a way to realistically describe how your garage farkle is very important to your riding of your motorcycle then go for it.

For instance if you say your table saw is your favorite garage farkle because you love to sit on it (hopefully with the blade lowered, but whatever) and drink coffee
while you stare at your motorcycles then I'd have to say no, it doesn't count. However if you mention your South Bend lathe because you are constantly using it to make
parts to adapt farkles originally designed for more popular bikes to your somewhat rarer model then of course, yes it counts.  So Norm, got anything like that to displace those
clip on wheel weights down a notch? (No, I'm not saying your FJR is a rarer model, it was just a generic example.)

Garage...  Man cave/bar built on the end of the garage...

Bike: KTM 1190 Adventure....  Cyclops LED headlight.....  Stock light projects about 6” in front of the bike.  ;0)

Yes I’m a lucky dog. I had many not so nice motorcycle storage units prior to my current bike shop. When I retired and we built this house I took my opportunity to set it up as nicely as I could. I shot a few more photos today to show it a bit better. BTW... if Ray Kang were to post pictures of his garage you would see the ultimate garage!

Yeah...Ray’s is enough to give anyone garage envy.  And don’t for forget Tom Bartels...the Garage Majal.  Many of us have been very blessed in our lives.  But it’s also been a process for many of us.  Garage space has been either nonexistent or at a premium for much of my life.  I’m sure it’s been the same for most.

What I’ve really always wanted to do is buy an old fire station and live in it!  Fix the upstairs up real nice and keep the downstairs garage for bikes and cars.  I also know of a couple of people that have bought property, put up a pole barn, and lived in it.  1/2 of it house, and 1/2 of it garage.  I could live in that!

Back to the farkles though....

I did put an air hawk on my FZ6 last year and have found that, after I got the air pressure right, it has absolutely increased my riding range.  Even though I have had a Corbin seat on the bike, it’s never been as good as it is now.

Ok...so maybe my second most favorite farkle is a GPS. Having a garage where the bikes live, even if it means the cars sit outside 24/7, is my #1 farkle (if you can call it that).


My good friend, Randy Logan, having quit riding, surprised me the other day when I stopped by to see him. He had his "old" Zumo 660 packed up and ready to go and offered it to me if I'd take it with me. I took him up on the offer.


Last year I acquired a Zumo 395, and I'm trying to learn how it operates. Add the 660, which is different in many respects, adds another thing to learn. My old StreetPilot 2610s, 2720s, & 2730s may start getting less use. We'll see.
