Another thanks from me. I had a great time and brought a new MSTA member, William Usilton with me from IL. We took two days to get there, riding back roads. Yesterday, I rode the 600 miles home in one shot with a lot of super slab because of some severe weather forecast for the home area. Did ok until between Nashville, TN and Paducah, KY when I ran into a heavy thunderstorm and then some lighter rain when I got into IL. 9 hours later, I was safe at home and ready for a rest.
We had as perfect a day as one could ever have on Saturday. William and I frequent the Yamaha Super Tenere forum and a member that I only knew on line lives about 50 miles from Helen. He met us at the hotel Saturday morning and took us on an incredible ride of those GA mountain roads. He said that in addition to many of the local favorite roads, he would take us on some that only the locals knew. While there were lots of bikes out on some of those roads, his other favorite less travelled roads had little or no traffic. It was fantastic. As I was riding one particular road that morning, I thought to myself that how lucky I was at 70 years old to still be able to enjoy my hobby of riding great twisty roads at a sporting pace. It doesn't get much better than that!
We also stopped at TWO and met two other Super Tenere forum members and then all 5 of us rode to The bike shop at Rider's Hill to look at some of their exotic scenery.
As much as I enjoyed the riding, it was also a pleasure to see some of my long time HSTA/MSTA friends that I hadn't seen in quite a while. Just a perfect weekend. Thanks to all involved in putting this Just For Fun event on for us.
