2014 Fools Run Ride-Update Info
« Reply #1 on: March 21, 2014, 12:59:36 pm »
Alright everyone!

Spring is here and we are 2 weeks away from 2014 Fools Run Ride!

The long range weather forecast is favorable: http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/tellico-plains-tn/37385/march-weather/2125066

GPS-and for those of trying to learn BaseCamp, Doug Pippin has offered to share information about how to navigate BaseCamp.  He is bringing his computer and will share some pointers for us beginners.  This will probably be in the evening one night.

As mentioned previously, I will be riding to Tellico Plains from Virginia, Thursday, April 3 and stopping at Ridgewood BBQ for lunch in Bluff City, TN.
Let me know if you want to join me.

See you soon!

« Reply #2 on: March 21, 2014, 05:27:03 pm »
Hello!

I just learned that someone has a change in plans and is not coming to 2014 Fools Run Ride.

Therefore there is cabin space available.

Contact me if you are interested in sharing a cabin.

Regards,

Galen

Galen,
What time do you anticipate being at Ridgewood? I've been hearing about the place and want to try it. Trying it with friends is even better.
FYI...there's a fairly new BBQ place in Tellico Plains, too, called Krambonz BBQ. It won't have the hype of Ridgewood, but my first trip there has me wanting to go back a second time. The food was priced fairly, it was good, and there was plenty of it.

Geoffrey,

For Ridgewood-12:30 pm on Thursday.  Yeah, I have heard good things about this place!

And I plan to sample some Q at Krambonz during the weekend also.

Hope to see you Ridgewood!  And maybe we can share the road toward Tellico!

May show up at Ridgewood; heck may show up in Tellico.

Mainly replying to see what my response looks like in the forum as I just registered (again).

BTW Geoffrey, you didn't go to "Ridgewood" when you were over at ETSU?   That's when it was really a unique place.  I'll tell you about it if I make it next Thursday.

I have a cabin reserved at Tellico and my original cabinmate cancelled so I have an extra bed as of now.
Received a funny e-mail from Bill Hammond this morning about cabin but doesn't make any sense to me.

I have no roommate.
Contact Pippin to see if he wants to share.
If so – I can give my cabin to Roanoke folks.
Bh

So if you decide to come give me a shout.

I'll be leaving here early Thursday morning hoping to have enough time once I get there to check out a new route I put together.

Be there around dark thirty Thursday and have a cabin reserved.    Friend of mine has loaned me a WR250 to try out so I'm bringing it along with my DR.

Another MSTA member and myself are tossing around an idea for 2015 Fools Run DS Ride at another location.  I will post if the idea shifts to a plan.

Did you get your bike's charging problem resolved?   And your body parts repaired/replaced?   ::)

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help get this rolling. I'm 70 high quality miles from Tellico Plains and don't mind running down that way to check on things as required.
