While at STAR this year, the Flight 93 memorial isn't far away. 150 miles is nothing to this crowd, right?  True American Heroes like these should be honored.     Let's Roll!!    TM

Stopped there 2 years ago. Very moving.

Ride4MS:
We thought about visiting the Flight 93 Memorial while attending STAR 2021 at Canaan Valley. We were less than 50 miles on one of the rides that we took, but just found it hard to do and then ride a cycle after visiting. It might have brought many tears to our eyes, just like now.
One of the Hero's on the Flight was from Minnesota, Tom Burnett, who was involved with several calls back home when they knew things were not going good. Finally, Tom and another guy, by the name of Todd Beamer made those famous words to everyone on the plane, "Let's Roll"!
I remember a few weeks later at the SCCA Runoffs at Mid-Ohio, a friend of mine from Michigan, home of Todd B, had in his rear window of the Mustang Race Car, in big letters, "Let's Roll!"
There were several heroes that day that kept the plane from heading to the US Capitol.
This still brings tears to my eyes remembering what our youngest son Dan went through at that time. He was in Basic Training and not knowing what was going to happen next.

HawkGTRider:
I visited the site in the early 2000s (2003 or 2005...don't remember) before there was much there. My sister has been there more recently and was quite moved by the entire memorial site. I'm glad to hear we'll be "close". I WILL revisit the site.

I have been there twice now, once before the large memorial building was completed.

If you've ever wanted to visit Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water, its also in that area and the two make for a good day.
