Weather:
On my Android phone I use Myradar (
link) for current weather info weather info. If I ever manage to get my phone mounted in a weatherproof holder on my bike
and a cell service with better coverage than Virgin Mobile, then I'll most likely drop my subscribed XM radio weather service on my GPS.
The Myradar app supplies a much more detailed radar picture than the GPS screen does.

I also use the Bubbler GPS (
link)which works well with Spotwalla (
link). For those few of you that may not be familiar with either,
Spotwalla is a website where your stay at home family and friends can track your progress on your trips. You can even make
a special page for an event and every one can follow the others heading to the same event from around the country.
Yeah it's kind of a nerdy thing, but still neat to see your friends from around the country converging together on a map. Bubbler
GPS is what sends your current location and any additional optional info (like a picture or a gas stop icon, food stop icon, scenery stop icon)
up to the Spotwalla site. There are two versions of Bubbler GPS, Lite and PRO. I believe Lite is free and PRO is $9.99. I went with PRO because
I use Virgin Mobile cell service which has spotty coverage on trips. The Pro version will store 1500 locations and will upload them when a signal
or wifi is restored. The Lite version only stores 5 before it starts writing over the old ones so there would be large gaps in my trip of no data.
The lite version is great for experimenting however before committing any funds.
Here is a recent morning trip I took which should give you a good idea of what can be mapped it has a gas stop, scenery stop with photo (
albeit sideways and it's
only field art- so not very scenic) and a food stop. You can also see (
to my embarrassment) where I turned the wrong way looking for gas and had to double back.
Click on any spot to see info for that point in time.
(and yes you can turn off the speed portion of the posts if you don't want your family or friends to see your speed. )https://spotwalla.com/tripViewer.php?id=a79a53c2dd3580fd6
