Thanks to Mark Hughes for the heads-up.
Dick was one of the first HSTAer's I ever met. He always had a twinkle in his eye and a great story and/or limerick to tell.
Lee James mentioned here was also a member for some time.

Richard C. Smith
 
HANOVER Richard C. "Dick" Smith, 89, entered into God's eternal care Thursday, August 27, 2014, at the Hanover Hall Nursing Center. He was the loving husband of Mildred G. (Heagy) Myers Smith, with whom he shared
over 29 years of marriage. Born April 12, 1925, in York, he was the son of the late Wilmer and Isabel (Grover) Smith. Dick served his country proudly from 1943-1946 as a member of the United StatesArmy <http://www.legacy.com/memorial-sites/army/?personid=172295022&amp;affiliateID=488> , earning the rank of Technician-5th Grade and specializing as a truck driver. He was awarded an American Theater Ribbon and a World War II <http://www.legacy.com/memorial-sites/ww2/?personid=172295022&amp;affiliateID=488>  Victory Ribbon. Dick worked as a weightlifting coach, retiring in 1987 from York Barbell, having proudly coached for over 20 years. Dick was a coach and team manager for the U.S. Weightlifting Team. He was a veteran of six trips to the Olympic Games and coached many medal-winning Olympic athletes, including York County's Lee James and Donnie Warner. Dick was a member of the York Barbell Club. He was also a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Hanover. In addition to his loving wife, Mildred, Dick is survived by his stepchildren, Karen Myers Wood and her husband, Neil, Dwight L. Myers and his wife, Janet, and Kim I. Myers and his wife, Sally; two step-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Donna L. Jones. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2014, at Grace United Church of Christ, 100 Fourth St., Hanover, with the Rev. Bruce P. Bouchard officiating. A time to view and share memories with the family will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery, York, at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made in memory of Dick to the York County SPCA, 3159 N. Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406; or the animal rescue of your choice. The Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, has been entrusted by the family with the funeral arrangements.
