Definitely keep us in the loop on this. I'm probably heading south via sub-interstate roads maybe Wednesday morning, so it might fit the agenda nicely to get there Thursday.

MotoAmerica, the Wayne Rainey-led group, that will run motorcycle road racing in the US isn't going to race at Daytona.  The track itself said they will have road races but as far as I know, none of the factory teams have committed to send their team riders.

I posted prior to final details being worked out to let you folks coming from the north know ASAP that the lunch is going to happen again this year. We usually get a good turnout from riders all over the country!
I will update as soon as Phil has nailed down a restaurant. -JEP-

Thanks for that tidbit Tosh, I was looking at schedules for this year and saw the Daytona 200 in mid March, just assumed it was part of MotoAmerica. I see they recently added a round in Miller Motorsports in UT, which always looked like a cool track (and hosted some nice WSB racing).

I've got a room in Jacksonville (WAY cheaper than anywhere closer to Daytona), so this is just about perfect-o-mundo.

Your Jacksonville hotel's parking lot will probably be filled with trucks & trailers, all with out of state plates, for those hard core riders who "ride to Daytona."  ;)

You may be right about some of the lodgings in the area, but this particular place is where the Iron Butt Association has it's annual "Daytona" get-together. A few people will show up on 4 wheels if circumstances dictate, but the vast majority of folks showing up for the dinner will ride...from literally all over the country.

I think Bike Week has lost a little of it's demand.
Last year we made reservations just a week or two ahead of Bike Week in Deland (about 30 minutes to the track). Our rate was under $100/nite and the old requirement for a minimum of a 3 to 5 night stay was not required.

There is an ebb and flow to everything. Perhaps some of the visitors to Daytona are tired of showing off their individuality along with 400,000 or so of their best friends doing the same thing.

If anyone is coming to Bike Week early, we have a regular state lunch scheduled in Deland for the first Saturday (see events calendar for details).
