Yamaha's New FJ-07
« on: October 28, 2016, 11:42:41 am »
Cycle World has a very interesting article on this exciting new bike from Yamaha. Alas, it's only for the European market in '17, but I certainly hope they're planning to bring it over here the next year! ;D Syd

Syd,

Hope the FJ07 becomes available in the US. Was going to replace the Vstrom with a FJ09 during 2017, but will wait and see on the FJ07 for 2017 or 2018. I could easily fit FJ07 in the 6.5' bed of the Tundra when towing the travel trailer. Looks like this bike would work fine for two up touring when camping around the nation.

Thanks for posting!

You're right Pat! There's certainly a familial resemblance. This should have a little more low end grunt than the FZ6, and hopefully a little slicker shifting mechanism. I'm looking forward to seeing it! Syd :D

I saw this on the Tenere forum today. Supposedly a 700 or 750 Tenere'!

With the engine and frame combinations that Yamaha has recently come out with, there are several diffent ways they can go for a minimum of expense.  I also saw the mini-T speculation piece and liked what I saw.

Not an ADV looking FJR-09 but a sport-touring FJR-09.  Oh hell I'll just build my own.   ;) ;) ::) ::)

Here is how I rode it today.

It's easy to tell that the stock suspension was built to a price point. Needs help but then I'm still trying to dial it in. I've been making adjustments and getting it closer. It still wants to push in the corners and when I try to trail brake into corners it wants to stand up. I'm so used to the Tenere which has none of these tendencies.

It sure is a fun bike however!

Congrats on on the FJ9  Dave.  I'm still getting mine dialed in.  Hope your recovery is going well. I saw your post on the FJ9 forum about suspension upgrade. I'm thinking about doing some suspension work to my bike so I can keep up with y'all.  I have a Busa rear shock to go on first looks like it will be a tight fit.

Whoa... first who is this? Sorry you didn't sign your email and don't say in your profile.

How do you know a Busa rear shock will work properly on the much liter FJ-09?

I find that the front needs work so far the back seems... well acceptable. At least until I change the front.
