STAR2027 will be held JUNE 26-30, 2027 in Huntington, West Virginia!
Hotel Information:
The host hotel is the Doubletree by Hilton in downtown Huntington. We have 35 double queen and 5 king rooms in our block for Friday the 25th. (we can get more if needed). We have 85 double queen and 25 king rooms in our block for Sat-Wed nights. We can get more king rooms, but we can’t get any more double queens those nights. All rooms are $140 per night and include 2 free breakfasts per room and free parking. Rooms there can normally go for over $200 per night, with breakfast costing $18 for each person, and parking $10 per day. So, they have given us a pretty good discount! The hotel has a bar, a restaurant, several meeting rooms, a large ballroom for the banquet, and all the amenities you would expect to find in a downtown hotel. There is a small parking area in front that will be set aside for motorcycles only parking. It has an attached parking garage. We are working on trailer parking in a city lot next to the Doubletree.
The overflow hotel is the Delta by Marriot, which is located 1 short block away from the Doubletree. We currently have 35 double queen rooms in our block at that hotel for all nights starting Saturday the 26th, thru Wednesday the 30th. Those rooms in our block are $129 per night, with free parking. No breakfast. There is both outdoor (limited) and garage parking (free) at this hotel.
You will receive the discount codes for each hotel to use when reserving your room AFTER YOU REGISTER for the rally. Please don’t try to reserve a room before you get that code. You won’t like the prices without the discounts!
There are several other chain hotels that are located 3 miles away off I-64, or across the Ohio River in southern Ohio. We haven’t worked with any of those hotels to set aside blocks. Many of them offer MSTA members discounted pricing using the code for each that is available in our membership discount package. You can find those codes by logging into the MSTA website and accessing the Discounts page.
All the event meetings, and the banquet, will be held at the Doubletree. There are several restaurants, bars, and breweries within short walking distance of the downtown hotels. We are working on securing discount pricing at some of them for rally attendees.
There is camping available close by at Beech Fork State Park (WV) and a KOA in Milton, WV.
Road Routes for Ohio are being done by Patrick O’Bryant (OH). Patrick is the coordinator of an annual ST-Owners group rally held in SE Ohio. He already has many good routes for the area from those rallies and will be modifying them for our use. I will be doing the routes for Kentucky. Some of those will be all new and some of them will be based upon routes we have used for the Red River Gorge (KY) rally. West Virginia routes will be a team effort by myself and others in that area. It won’t be a question of finding enough good roads for everyone, it will be a question of how we limit ourselves and not put out so many different routes that attendees are overwhelmed by the choices!
Adventure Routes are also in abundance in the area. We will be supplying everyone with links for websites and FB groups that already have hundreds of miles of adventure routes mapped out and with access to GPX files. They include the Southern West Virginia Adventure Trail (SWVAT), the Great Ohio Adventure Trail (GOAT), the Southern Ohio Adventure Loop (SOAL), and the Bluegrass Region Adventure Passageway (BRAP). You can go online already and access these routes via their own websites and groups. And it’s FREE.
The Lunch Ride will be held on Tuesday the 29th. It will be held at Carter Caves State Resort Park (KY). Two routes have already been created for this. One of them is a circular route that takes you through some great roads in West Virginia and Kentucky to get to the park and then takes you through more great roads in Kentucky and Ohio to get back. The other option is to just head west on I-64 about 40 miles and then a short ride up SR182 to the park. We will have usage of one of the meeting rooms in the park lodge for a buffet style lunch, featuring cold cut sandwich makings, salad, and brownies. Afterwards you can hang around the park if you wish and do some hiking, play miniature golf, fish, or do a guided or self-guided cave tour. Not far from Carter Caves is Portsmouth, Ohio and its famous Flood Wall Murals. Or you can do a side trip to Point Pleasant and view the Mothman Statue and museum. There is lots to do, and lots to see, in the Tri-State area!
More exciting information about Huntington and the rally will be featured in future issues of the STAReview, online in the MSTA website, or in our Facebook group pages. Also expect to see updates in the monthly EC email blasts.
We want to see YOU at Star in 2027!
