Dreamers will dream
Designers will design
Workers will build
Riders will ride.
Started long ago
when horses were common
and bicycles all the rage,
some unsatisfied said
“time for the motor age”.
A bike and an engine
were put together.
They moved down the road
and others soon followed.
Don’t forget the dreamers’
the beginners.
Laurin and Klement
Victoria and Leutner
Ok-Supreme
Raleigh and Excelsior
Matchless and Marsh.
And the wheels started turning.
Beauchamp, Carbine, Champion, and Sarola.
NSU, Opel, Quadrant, and Imperial.
Indian, Cleveland, Curtis, and Merkel.
Ariel, OEC, Hercules, and Wanderer.
And the workers keep building.
Triumph, Ducati, Moto Guzzi, and HD.
Buell, Aprilla, Derbi, and Montesso.
Kymco, Norton, Big Dog, and Lifan.
Solex, BMW, Mondenas, and Hero.
And the designers keep designing.
Motomel, Zarella, Husaburg, and KTM.
Sachs, MZ, Royal Enfield, and Bimota.
Matchless, MU, Husky, and Gilera.
Honda, Yammy, Zuki, and Kaw.
And the dreamers keep dreaming.
Gezzi, Bryon, Hyosung, and Ness.
Confed, Eric, Motoczye, and Motus.
Rocher, Rokon, Fischer, and Girney.
Polaris, ATK, Italika, and more.
And the wheels will keep turning.
As long as riders
Need to ride.
I found this on-line and decided to share. We all have our favorite brands and favorite bikes. But let’s never forget all of the dreamers, designers, builders, and riders that came before us. To all of them we owe a great dept that we can only repay by passing this love along to the next generation.
I’ve found some other motorcycle related poetry and will be sharing it here from time to time. Hope you enjoy. PM
