EC News:
Many MSTA members are familiar with the wonderful sport/touring roads in western
North Carolina. It’s a rider’s paradise. We have several MSTA members who have been
affected by the recent devastation left by Helene. The EC extends its deepest
sympathies to our members and the people of North Carolina and nearby states dealing
with this disaster.
The EC met on 9-24-24
The next EC meeting will be held at the STAR Rally in Kerrville TX. Time TBD.
1) The new PMP website (Paid Membership Pro) is approaching completion. Jeff Dolence
has been working out the bugs and between his testing and the work of the consultants,
it is moving along. This is a time-consuming process and the EC extends appreciation
to Jeff for volunteering many hours of his time to this process.
2) The Facebook group MSTA Members-Volunteers now has 90 members. Norm Kern
started this group so that members who are interested in volunteering in some way to
help promote the success of the club can communicate easily and be in the know.
If you are interested in joining the volunteer FB group, please contact Norm Kern
directly at nkernmsta@gmail.com
3) The following national officer positions are open. If you would like to volunteer for one of
these positions, please contact Norm Kern directly at nkernmsta@gmail.com
*Event photographer
*Raffle coordinator
*State News editor for STAReview

STAR News:
1)Hope to see you all at STAR 24 this month! As outlined in the September/October 2024
issue of STAReview, Kerrville Texas offers excellent riding through the Texas High
Country as well as tons of places to visit in and around the region. Online registration
ended on September 30, but you can still attend by just showing up and registering in
person at the event. There’s always room for a few more!
2)With STAR 2024 coming soon, the STAR committee has been completing the finishing
touches to make this an excellent rally. Norm Kern has finalized the routes and
descriptions and they have been uploaded to the website. Thank you to Todd Nunnally
and Mike Gilliland for their good work helping with the routes.
3)Dianne Park reported that the t-shirts have been ordered and massage therapists are
being scheduled to take care of those sore muscles that go along with great riding.
4)Don’t forget that the raffle bike this year is a 2024 Suzuki GSX-8S! And there will be a
separate raffle for a NO-MAR Moto Lift ML-12. This is being made available through the
generosity of MSTA members Steve and Sue Nemish (No-Mar Enterprises LLC) who
donated this lift that normally retails for about $3K. So, members have a chance to win
this outstanding lift AND/OR the bike! Again, online ticket purchases ended on
September 30th, but can be purchased onsite at STAR.
5)As of 9-24-24 there are approximately 145 people registered for STAR 2024.
Regional News:
1) Arkansas State Directors Bill and Gayla O’Brien have stepped down from their positions
as Arkansas State Directors. The EC thanks them for their long and dedicated service to
the club! Jerry and Jamie James agreed to accept the vacancy left by Bill and Gayla and were
voted in by the EC as the new Arkansas Sate Directors. Welcome Jerry and Jamie!
2) Randy Frank has agreed to join forces with Doug Logston and they will be co-directors
for Colorado and Wyoming. Thank you both!
3) Considering the amount of rainfall from Helene, Fall Colors 2024 was a success!
Understandably many cancelled due to the weather but 38 members attended the Rally.
Thursday and Friday were a wash for riding due to constant rain but the hotel lobby
became our gathering place and gave members an opportunity to socialize with old
friends and make new ones. Several members reported that having the day to catch up
with friends was a welcome “silver lining” of the weather. By Saturday morning the sun
was shining and members enjoyed great riding through VA and WV.
