MSTA member Jon DelVecchio has been a rider, riding instructor, author and educator for several decades now and during his summers off from teaching high school he travels around the country putting on seminars and teaching riding classes. He has now put his in-person training into a series of videos that form a complete online course that you can take from the comfort of your couch and on your time schedule.
The short, entertaining and educational videos (3-6 minutes each) take you step-by-step through Jon’s process that moves you from a person that doesn’t feel confident in the twisties to someone that can corner with confidence and relax as they do so. It’s like turning chess into checkers, as Jon’s training will take your worries away and allow you to enjoy your riding, especially when the roads become interesting.
Jon’s course spends time on such riding skills as Body Positioning, Looseness, Throttle Control, Trail Braking and more. The 1st video of each chapter gives an overview and sets a goal for the chapter. It’s followed up by explaining a skill, showing it put to practice, giving you exercises to try on your own and a short quiz to make sure you understand the skill before moving on.
While it was hard for me to actually practice the skills during the time I was taking the course (mid-winter in Northern Kentucky), one of the nice things is that once you’ve loaded the course onto your computer, you can go back at any time and review the whole or any part of the course at your convenience.
You can access Jon’s website at http://www.streetskills.net. While there you can get the course for only $50. The accompanying book is $25, or you can get a package deal with both for only $65.
That is less than 1/2 of what we often spend on a pair of gloves! A deal at twice the price and an excellent product but wait, there’s more! Jon is giving MSTA members a 20% discount when you use the code MSTA2020 at checkout AND these products are eligible for reimbursement through the Dan Clark Safety Fund!
